Prior to starting dental school, Dr. McManaman completed a Bachelor of Science degree with honours at Mount Allison University. He attended Dalhousie Dental School, graduating with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1999. Following dental school, Dr. McManaman pursued a one year dental internship program at the Toronto General Hospital. During his internship, he pursued orthodontic research with the past chairman of the University of Toronto Orthodontic program, resulting in his first orthodontic publication.
Upon completion of his internship, Dr. McManaman was accepted to the University of Manitoba three year Masters Orthodontic program. Upon successful defense of his Orthodontic Masters thesis and Fellowship examination in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Dentists in 2003, he was rewarded with his certification as a Specialist in Orthodontics.
After graduation, Dr. McManaman joined Dr. Johnson's Orthodontic practice in Moncton, New Brunswick as an associate. Upon retirement of Dr. Johnson, Dr. McManaman assumed ownership of the practice. In addition to his successful main practice in Moncton, Dr. McManaman and his team, regularly travel to Prince Edward Island to provide orthodontic care at his additional Charlottetown and Summerside offices.
Dr. McManaman maintains his education through membership to the Canadian and American Associations of Orthodontists, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Moncton Dental Societies; in addition, to maintaining a Fellowship with the Royal Canadian College of Dentists. Both Dr. McManaman and his team regularly attend educational seminars and courses around the world on new Orthodontic techniques. In addition, Dr. McManaman frequently lectures to Dentists, Dental Hygenists, Dental Assistants, and school children on topics related to Orthodontics. He has also been interviewed by the media on numerous occasions about topics related to orthodontics and dentistry, with articles appearing in the newspaper and radio.
When he is not busy practicing Orthodontics, Dr. McManaman enjoys spending time with family, friends, windsurfing, running, kayaking and hanging out at his favourite beach.
